I took my junk bike and the A50/1.2 on a ride through Scottsdale today. It was a beautiful morning for a ride.

Looks like the Schwinn l bought about 30 years ago, except mine was blue. Which model is it? Think mine was the Traveler.

Yep, an '88 Traveler. Yours was probably an '85 or '86, it was available in blue then. They switched to a mint green color in 1987 (identical to Bianchi), and then you could have either a teal/white fade like mine in '88, or just white.

I've had fancier bikes, but it's mostly the old Schwinns that get comments. They're the brand so many grew up with and can relate to, whether they're "bike enthusiasts" or not. I also have a yellow '74 Le Tour that I've kept all the '70's styling cues on (big steel dork disk, chromed steel wheels, non-aero brake levers, etc.). I've had so many people tell me, "I had one just like that when I was younger!" I was at the bank with it once when one silver-haired man nearly injured himself on the door while staring at my parked bike and reminiscing about days past.

l'll be joining this club soon. On Ebay l found a 50 f/2 A in very good condition from Robert's Camera. Thought about getting the 50 f/1.7, but the f/2's sell for next to nothing. Mine was 22usd with free shipping.

Aha! There you are:

Schwinn Catalogs, 1981 - 1990

The Traveler was one of the bikes assembled at their (money-losing) Mississippi plant. Most of their other bikes had been outsourced to Panasonic (Japan) and Giant (Taiwan) years before. The company was not doing well at that point. They filed for bankruptcy in 1992. The brand was eventually acquired by Pacific Cycle, and the name is just a badge for department-store junk now.

Anyway, congratulations on the 50mm purchase! Moderately-fast normal primes are by far the best bang for the buck, IMO. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
