Today was one of those good old typical Dutch summer days. Pouring rain and it just wouldn't stop but not at all cold outside. Our furry monster was getting a bit nervous around 10'ish this morning and as it didn't look like we'd have a dry walk and I sorely need the exercise to get a few kilo's off I thought, what the heck! I have a WR camera and an Irix 150 Macro which I've never used in the rain before but it has this great deep hood which prevents drops smearing all across the front lens element - let's go for a serious walk.

Bobtails (OES's) look kind of funny when they're soaked anyway - instead of a huge ball of exploded hair, you're left with something similar to a wrung-out poodle (he doesn't like it much either) so we went for a 10km trek around our little town. Here's what I caught along the way, some of it under my feet (or almost), other stuff in the gardens of houses along the path or in the many little ponds and streams/canals.

I love how this lens brings out detail and I love how the KP deals with image noise. All shots were raw (PEF) converted in Darktable with a touch of NR and sharpening in NeatImage afterwards - no further editing was done.

Shot today with the KP and Irix 150mm/f2.8 - still love this lens. The sharpness and colour clarity are magic.

You make the lens look good! And the bokeh appears to be extremely smooth, even for a macro lens.

K-3 mk III and the 11mm Blackstone. SOOC. Cropped only.
I really like the contrast and color richness. Perhaps I should pick up the 150mm too?

Starscape "centred" on the South Celestial Pole as viewed from the NSW Far South Coast, Australia on 16 February 2023. The Milky Way is rising on the left; the Small Magellanic Cloud is descending on the right. The exciting (to me anyway ) feature is the pink glow from Aurora Australis or Southern Lights. Generally not visible to the naked eye at only 36.5 degrees South latitude, but partly discernible with averted vision on this occasion.

K1 + IRIX 15/2.4 (Blackstone) 30 seconds @ f2.8 ISO1600. Minor crop to adjust alignment of the bridge, which was lit for a few seconds with a small hand held torch.

And here's a view a bit later in the evening. The Earth's rotation has now brought the Milky Way into a nearly vertical orientation higher in the sky, while on the other side of the South Celestial Pole, the stars have descended further, with the Large Magellanic Cloud now in frame. The auroral glow has subsided.

K1 + IRIX 15mm f2.4 30 secs at f2.8 ISO 1600
