Quick update on my decentered 15mm Blackstone.

I contacted Irix support via email. They asked me to send some sample photos and shortly after sending them they asked me to send the lens to their service center in Poland. I had to pay for the return shipping in advance but they promised to refund.

Five days after the lens arrived at their service center I wrote another email and asked about a status update. Twenty minutes later I got answer that they are currently testing the faulty lens and another twenty minutes later I got another message that a new copy will be on its way to me soon.

So overall I'm pretty happy with their support even though I had to pay for the shipping in advance and had to ask for the status of my complaint. I got very friendly and quick response to my emails. Since they are a pretty new company and having bought their very first lens in mass production I can forgive them their quality control problems and not perfect support.
I'm really looking forward to having this wonderful lens back on my K-1 and start taking awesome pictures with it.

Hi. Here are a few more interior shots of Banqueting House, in London, using my IRIX 15 Blackstone. They are all hand held (and suffer a little because of that) but are all uncropped and unsharpened. I remain happy with my copy of this lens.

That third shot, with a mirror to observe the ceiling is a bit disorienting, as if someone decided to build an Escher print.

And here's an uncropped star shot showing part of the Milky Way. A 90 second exposure at f4.5 using the K1's in-built astrotracer function.

Ho Cool! I want more like that! Looks very sharp across the frame!
Can barely see trails, except on the upper right and lower left corners...

what's the daark spot at the middle of the bottom edge? clouds? **

Anyway, very nice image of the milky way!

**Edit: Yes they are, figured it out by looking at the other nice pics in your Flickr stream.

Thank you very much. Yes, you're right - clouds. This was close to the best I've seen the sky in summer at this locality, right on the coast (loads of salt spray haze and clouds) but still scored some cloud banks low down.

Wow ...

Ranchy,

From your posts, I can see that you have put this 15mm lens to good use.

This lens coupled with the K-1 can really showcase the power of the Pixel shift function.

Well done. Keep the pictures coming.

One with the Irix 15mm. Taken using K1 HDR mode and light adjustment with lightroom.

An elevated view of Newcastle, Australia. Blackstone 15mm @ f11 hand held using K1. Cropped top and bottom (to facilitate comparison with a similar scene but different lens) but the full frame width has been retained.
