The shop was Pro-Photo in San Diego. It took longer than the original estimate. During the installation they broke a circuit board. They replaced it before it left the shop, causing the extra week's wait. They gave an additional 90 days on top of the original conversion and camera warranties. They also readjusted the AF focus to match the IR frequencies. I had to re-shim the focus screen later. I don't if if that was because it was out before the conversion or because of it. I don't know if I'd go back there again because of the delay, but they were honest and followed thru.

I've heard horror stories about some conversions at other shops. Search for Spencer's camera in this forum to see.

Wait...do you mean Pro Camera Repair off of Raytheon Rd? I didn't know they did conversions. I used to live in San Diego but moved right about the time I was picking up photography as a hobby, been there a couple of times. Next trip out to see my parents I'll have to stop by again. Thanks for the info...and the warning about Spencer's.

Yes, I think so. Sorry about the name confusion. Raytheon Road is the place.

Very nice...I'm liking the stars on this one, looks cold but calm.

These are using the 10-17, both @ 10mm and from the same location.

Thanks!
We went out to this lake shore location hoping to see the comet again but it was obscured by clouds last night. So the bright spot in the sky is the crescent moon, the foreground light is my son playing with a headlamp on, and the light streaks are from cars on a highway (US 50, the "Loneliest Highway") across the valley. The big open space is the lake bed of Blue Mesa Reservoir which is reduced to a river here due to drought conditions for the last couple of years.

I thought the comet would be visible near the moon just after sunset?

It was in the 12th, well about 50 Min after sunset, when I shot this one but they were more spread out on the 13th and I think it was behind those clouds. Either that or it was too dim to find.

I see. The article I read said it will be progressively later in the evening each day headed towards Friday (tomorrow). I've been watching for it too, as I'm down in the Southeast the past couple days and the skies have been clear.
