Cadman's Cottage, built 1816 in Sidney. Because of the way it is down below the level of the parking lot, a fish-eye is about the only way to show all of the front down to the threshold of the front door.

As I had done before, I thought it would be interesting to see what defishing would do--using fisheye-hemi software and the lens correction filter in photoshop.

Of course it does not have the impact that the marvelous FE image of grand central station has, but for situations where a straight wide angle picture is required, a fisheye can actually give a less distorted ** (and wider) image than a rectilinear lens.

_____
** I should have said less "distorted feeling (or looking)" than a rectilinear lens. Most noticeable is that the wide angle lens causes circles at the periphery to be oval, which is not a distortion (it is optically correct), but feels (looks) like a distortion.
Great use of an FE to take in a very spacious and busy place, but your elevated position and pretty fast shutter speed, a lot of individuals and groups can be seen adding human interest to an architectural subject.

Samyang 7.5mm fish-eye on Panasonic G9, Defished with fish-eye hemi, then some additional correction in LR. The curvature in the cornices is the primary remaining indication of a fish-eye lens. The image looks more harshly contrasty after posting than it did when finalizing the processing.

Still goofing about for the Spring regional photo expo theme ... "seen from the ground" or "scene of the ground". Here the SMC Tak Fish-eye 17/4 on K-1 placed on the ground and an approximate aim ... really did not use the tilt screen. All taken in Poitiers. (x-post)

From yestreday's visit to Azay-le-Rideau castle (Château d'Azay-le-Rideau) ... still working on entries to the regional clubs' photo expo in the Spring. Here again, "views from the ground" expo theme using the SMC Tak 17/4. (xpost from K-1 thread)

Sidney. Samyang FE on Panasonic G9. Slightly cropped to eliminate the face of another tourist at the far right.
