I thought I had posted an image from a series similar to this one, but none of the files in that folder had any PP done on them, so I guess this one has not been posted. Probably a Bower 8mm fish-eye, with a diffused flash separate from the camera to throw light onto gills of the mushrooms. Multiple exposures to get the strobe & natural light reasonably balanced.

Every time I look at this thread I am amazed at the versatility of the Fish-Eye lens and of course the imaginative use of it by its owners, I wonder if the name Fish-Eye makes people think you can only do a couple of shots with the thing and then it won't be of use any more, how wrong can they, including me, be.

I am particularly impressed by WPRESTO's mushrooms at the top of this page, really great image and a pile of work to get it.

I shall have to drag out my K17mm F4 and start playing with it again, it didn't seem that wide on APS-C digital but now I'm drifting back to good old full frame film it looks much more inviting.

I wonder though if the more modern lens designs are optically better ?

Is better relevant to you? If it's good, which it is, as far as I can see, why not simply use it and try those 'other pictures'? If it's really lacking in some respect for your use, you can still reconsider ...

Excellent use of 10-17mm FE. Was it taken at, or close to, the less fishy end? I usually don't like architecture shots of rectangular straight edged buildings with FE lenses, but on this one, the slight curvature of the vertical lines even seems to enhance the desired visual effect.

Thank you a lot.
It was at 17mm end and I try my best to level with the horizon beam in the center. I would say, a DA15 could make this shot looks really good too.

I love your images and the impressions you offer of Japan and Tokyo. I find the 10-17 to be a precious gem of Pentax, marvellous how it can be a real fisheye at the low end and virtually a substitute for a wide-angle rectalinear lens at the high end.

Two recent fish-eye images, both X-posted on other threads although "tweaked" before posting here. Distortion largely removed from the lower area of the images, and a curvy tree trunk cropped off the extreme left edge of the first image. Samyang fish-eye on Oly EM 10 mkII

Should be good to go IMO. I had the M42 version and I liked the rendering, but for flexibility of lens chances I wanted to have K mount FE. K17/4 was too expensive for my taste, so went for F17-28FE instead.

I've been shootin F17-28FE this month in Single In Challenge. Main complain is MFD. It would be nice to get closer than 45cm, as it would open more opportunities, but otherwise this month has gone smoothly.

Wide FOV helps to shoot inside caravan:
