Here's a few more with the screw-in Samyang 0.15X adapter - they are improving, I think, but I suspect a ceiling with this accessory lens.

Banjo, I centre spot with a bit of reduction in the exposure. Current FE experiments are in using areas I expect to come out quite dark as framing for the pics. Not quite working but I'm getting there.

OK, thanks .

I got another roll back from the processors on Friday: overall, I feel I'm improving and beginning to take my time over each shot, taking more trouble with framing and composition (still a long way to go).

(Sorry, I can't post anything as I don't have the hardware or software myself -all my stuff is analogue.)

Love those fish-eyes!

PS:

It just occurred to me: If you reduce exposure (to darken the periphery), the effect will be all over the frame; i.e. you will also darken parts of the shadow in mid-frame that you would rather not.

If you want to darken the periphery only (i.e. get a vignetting effect) what might work is a graduated neutral density filter -clear in the centre but gradually shading radially outwards from the centre -the opposite of what is usualy the case with ultrawide lenses. You could maybe make one up using a uv filter and blackening the periphery with a candle or something. The only problem would be the huge diameter required (with a fish-eye) and how to attach it.

Nice shot.

However did you hold the camera & release the shutter?

I connected the trigger cable and put into continuous mode. I also had to manually focus it before hand so a bit of hit a miss there, AF couldn't make its mind up.

And a neck strap which just happens to be the right hight.

Nah Banjo, the Samyang overexposes the brighter areas if I don't knock back the exposure. I lose those lovely sky colours replaced by either washed out or way too bright exposures. Next outing I might try area metering and see how the overall exposure works.

Here's a look at the Wisconsin state capitol dome with a slight HDR effect.

The pictures in this thread were one of main motivations towards my getting the 10-17mm Fisheye. It is quickly becoming one of my favorite travel lenses (along with the DA21).

Here's one from a recent trip, taken in the Cathedral of St. Helena in Helena, Montana. 10mm, ISO 800, 1/15th at f4.0, handheld.

Here's one from a little closer to home, in Balboa Park in San Diego one recent evening. My friend Marty and I were doing some night shooting, this is a shot of his Canon displaying a shot of my K20D. You can't see it, but my LCD is displaying an earlier shot of his Canon. I guess if I was in to PS I could figure out a way that you could keep magnifying and see each camera, but this was just a matter of guessing at the length of time to keep his LCD lit in relation to the entire 30 sec exposure. I'm really liking the DA10-17.

30 sec at f11.0, ISO 100, 10mm.

Might as well shoot some fish if I'm going to be using a fisheye. Lunch at the Fish Market Restaurant on Harbor Drive in San Diego. They do a good job with fresh trout.

DA10-17, 1/250, f7.1, ISO 200, 10mm.
