What do durian and mangosteen taste like?
I've not actually tried the sweets, but durian is more a smell experience than taste - putrid flesh wrapped in old socks to some, heavenly ecstasy to others. In my car hire contract in Malaysia it stated that an extra day rental will be payable if durians are brought anywhere near the vehicle.
Mangosteen, on the other hand, is really something else :
'Imagine the best peach you've ever eaten, combined with a touch of passion fruit, a sliver of nectarine and a nip of lychee. Imagine a concord grape's sweet purple essence giving way to the clean leanness of a Granny Smith. Add a squeeze of lime, and a spoon of buttery brown sugar. Stir.'

I doubt that the sweets come anywhere near the real thing though.
