Maverickh I am jealous... (hope to visit those places one day.)

Looking forward to your photos. Loco
Thanks. I guess he was trying to rest his paw on the lens ...

I wish I had some better shots like Maverich's or other architectural ones. I guess I need to head to Philly one weekend.

Is a 8mm Samyang (or equivalent) fisheye easy to defish? I want to get a Sigma 10-20 but am considering this since it's $200 cheaper.

Just got my Samyang (Bell and Howell) 8mm last night. Unfortunately, I don't have any photos worth sharing yet, but hopefully soon...

I do have a question, though. I was playing around with the lens last night and was able to take a shot indoors at 1.3 second shutter handheld with almost no camera shake! There was just the slightest bit of hint of unsharpness, but frankly that could've been a focussing error. I was shocked. My hands are not all that steady.

Then, I noticed some other comments online indicating this lens was good for handheld slow shutter speeds. I guess I'm just wondering why that would be? Is it the focal length, the fishy-ness or something else?

It's a focal length. Longer lenses are more prone to shake and shorter ones are less prone. So a 8mm is going to be one of the most shake-resistant lengths out there!
I visualize it like a lever. A long lever moves a lot when you move the other end, but a short lever travels a much shorter distance when given the same input.

Hi again,

Just wanted to contribute something. I'm sure these kinds of photos are old hat to most of you, but I'm enjoying the fisheye perspective a lot! It's amazing how many stars show up with the longer exposure. Can't see them with the naked eye.

Just got my 10-17FE yesterday and headed to the most suitable fisheye subject for some test shots. Imagine what it would be like if the Bean could actually warp reality

I was planning on having the 15mm ltd be my next purchase, but the colors on the 10-17 look great. From what I've seen, at 15mm, the distortion looks minimal. Can I kill two birds with one stone? Or is the distortion fishy by 15mm? I would like to enjoy a rectilinear look between 15 and 17 and enjoy the fish wider than that, your thoughts?

Not to give a plug normally, but the Parkside Victoria......We decided to stay downtown for Canada day and called that day to see if to would be possible. We were disconnected (no fault of the hotel) and then it was busy the next time we called back.......the hotel apologized and upgraded us to a suite with 2 decks...one a garden deck "off the kitchen". It was amazing.
