You're welcome and thank you for the compliment. I am certainly enjoying this lens and hope to continue learning from the masters on this forum.

It sure did. I was hoping they'd hire me to do whatever so I could justify living there. Will post some more pics later.

Your processing gives the image an overall gritty feel that goes well with the subject matter and I like how the fire truck seems to stand apart from that grittiness with its color and shine...cheers!
Thanks! All the processing was done in camera with my delicious little Q It really is a FUN camera.

Decided to try shooting fireworks with my DA 10-17 this year... It was really fun and I got an interesting perspective. Many of the photos cropped nicely into "portrait" orientation.

[EDIT] Whenever I PP on my laptop the images wind up darker than intended... I played around with the levels a bit to make the crowd more visible and updated the image.[/EDIT]

Independence Day

I found myself far to close to the fireworks for my 16mm lens. The fireworks filled the sky overhead and out of the frame.
So I reached for the Samyang 8mm FE and captured it all, including my family lying on blankets at the edge of the lake.
Of course, the FE has the detrimental effect of making the fireworks show look really small and far away.

I think having your family there and the "extra" bits tells a lot more of a story then just a cropped photo of a firework going off does!!!

Great shot Dave and it shows just how versatile our fisheye lenses can be when you least expect it. I have taken to carrying it along all the time. My 10-17 just isn't that big or heavy and I keep finding uses. I usually have either a 17mm on the camera or my Sigma 24-135mm, big and heavy but bright.

Great . Well done.

This is one aptly suited instance to show the scope of coverage of an 8mm lens

thanks for sharing
