Nice pictures SpecialK, classic cars and classic planes. By the way, have they finished the Mitchell B25 project there yet?
Thanks. I don't know about the B-25 project, sorry.

I almost involuntarily left this club over the weekend.
I was shooting kids skiing for a local nonprofit on Saturday and I brought my K-5, Sigma flash, 18-135 WR, and Rokinon 8mm. I found I could carry all of this in my jacket with the camera and 18-135 mounted in the right chest pocket and the Rokinon, flash, and misc accessories in the left. I was pretty loaded down but it was still less bulky than skiing with a pack. I was skiing ahead, stopping, and shooting the skiers as they came by with the zoom and figured if they wanted to ski in the park I'd break out the Rokinon for some fun FE shots (which never ended up happening). At one point I was getting the flash out but they didn't wait as long as I was expecting so I just shot them without it and forgot to zip the pocket with the flash and 8mm back up before continuing on skiing. I found the open pocket a little later and zipped it up but it wasn't until the next run my heart sank as I realized I was missing my Rokinon 8mm from that pocket! I was about done shooting anyway so I sent the kids on their way and retraced my previous run after a very nervous lift ride. Amazingly I found my lens in amongst the bumps on one of the runs we did, no worse for wear, still in it's felt bag. What a relief! Even though it's one of my cheaper lenses I would have been really upset to have lost it!
So although I have no new photos to contribute today I'm at least still in the club. Whew!
I remember a time like that. I was working at the Leigh Creek coal mine in the summer of 1980/81. One Saturday morning I went out for pictures of gibbers and sleepy lizards with my Ricoh XR500 walking north out of town and around the outside of the mine area. When I got back I realized I was missing the front half of the ever-ready case. Too hot to go out again that day (40C in the shade and there was no shade. So had to wait a whole week before going back and retracing steps. Eventually found it, and got more pictures with slightly different light. I was nervous it might rain during the week, but it did not. It did rain about the time of Ronald Reagan's first inauguration - and flooded the mine. Bought my first Pentax (MX) after that summer.

Oh, I thought that was you who mentioned the CAF there and their restoration of the Mitchell. These shots are at Camarillo, aren't they?

It's Camarillo, the CAF, and they likely have a project, but I'm not knowledgeable about it.

and I thought this one will be the last picture, taken with my FE

I was totally wet, but seems that a bit of salted water isn't very harmful, and after careful cleaning lens is in fully working condition .

Wow, those are great! I love the last one especially although it's a little dark.

Cool, glad the lens survived. What was the exposure time on these?

Thanks folks, I really enjoy that you liked pics, indeed.
Both shots were taken at 17mm, f 4.5, ISO 400, the first at 1/6s,
the second one at 1/13s.
