I tried the old Samigon Fisheye Lens on my Sears K-mnt f2.8 135mm, with the K110D dslr. This gives coverage to the corners of the frame, not the sort-of oval you get when the Samigon is on a 50mm on the K110D. I'm not sure what effective focal length or angle of view results.

It can give a huge depth of field even at moderate aperture and is perfect for close ups where you like to show some ambient and background. Furthermore the FE distortion is usually not particularly obtrusive with such perspectives.

If you're feeling froggy, you can get so close to the subject that you may accidentally bump into it. In this case, my lens was touching the dirt underneath.

The other thing worth an experiment using the 10~17 is ground-level perspective of a subject such as a mushroom, somewhat like the flower perspective in the first shot posted by victormeldrew above. A remotely triggered flash, placed on the ground some distance away with a diffuser atop, sort of like a little table lamp, can illuminate the underside of the main subject. I received considerable positive feedback on such an image. (PS: use manual focus).

Two views of a fanciful bridge in a municipal park/garden in the Azores, first from outside and below, second from inside (HDR + PP to get some detail on both the extremely dark interior and the outside foliage).. The park seemed designed for kids with all sorts of whimsical, fairy-tail like stone constructions, staircases, grottoes, caves,etc. plus some massive trees whose spreading roots were an invitation to kids. Wonderfully, imaginatively designed public space. (Pentax 10~17, both shots at 10mm or very near)
