In little Midwestern towns, you can expect that the Methodist church is one of those white clapboard ones with a tall, slender steeple, and you'd nearly always be right. But in small cities over 5000 in population, they sometimes built in stone!

Incidentally, the lens isn't really a fisheye, merely my new-to-me Sigma 21-35mm zoom at 21mm, and pointed at the kind of angle that verges on a fishy result...fishier than some de-fished fisheyes, however, to my eye. (F/8, 1/250th, Kodak Ultramax 400 as a cloud front started to blow over, Sears/Ricoh KSX body.)

I've really had fun this weekend with the Pentax DA10-17. It's such an enjoyable and creative little lens. It visited a Renaissance Fair yesterday, and found time for a quick jaunt to the local wildlife refuge too.

I may post a few others later, but this is my home studio, shot with that lens on the KS2. It's a fairly small room but amazingly adaptable and easy to work in. (cross-posted)
Shoots larger than you would expect the space to. So how large is it? Only 10x11, plus a dormer space 4x8'
All the lighting is continuous, LED
Your model appears to be of the very patient variety.

Very.
My wife and daughter much appreciated me bringing her into the fold. For whatever reason they didn't seem to enjoy my studio practice sessions as much as I do. Who'da thunk it?

In all seriousness tho it was a really good investment. "Penelope" has quite realistic eyes with good gloss that picks up the catch-light, real eyelashes, minimal makeup and lip gloss, and decently accurate skin tone (maybe a bit on the Mediterranean side) so lighting translates well to human models. I can practice whenever I wish, and being able to do some pre-flighting before real subjects are in the chair is a major time-saver. And the cost? About $80 with shipping which including two different wig colors. Crazy cheap IMHO and absolutely worthwhile.

I think I'm beginning to warm up to the distortion of this Rokinon 8mm FE.

I thought about walking up to the base of the windmill in the front, to try taking pictures pointed straight up (more or less). I couldn't see any signs warning of video surveillance and the windmills are owned by SaskPower, which is owned by the Province of Saskatchewan, so I might argue that I own a piece of it, but in the end I decided I didn't want attract any suspicious attention, so I stopped once I had walked to within about 100 feet of the doorway at the bottom.

Regardless of legal or not, photographing infrastructure item s from close rather than as general shots might be seen as a security risk. Could attract an unpleasant interview.

Sometimes we should allow wisdom and discretion to over-ride 'rights'.

Amwell Walkway

Couple of images from the warmest day of the year so far. First attempt at HDR using 3 bracketed exposures with DA 10-17mm @ 10mm.

The HDR served you well. Two fine images of a lovely day in a peaceful place.

I didn't know there was a pair of statues commemorating the Lincoln-Douglas debate in Alton. There's quite an old plaque on the side of Old Main at Knox College, the site of the Galesburg debate. Incidentally, my great grandmother, whom I met in 1955 when she was 98 and I was 3, saw one of those debates when she was a little girl. She recalled Lincoln as the ugliest man she ever saw. Her toddler eyes thought Douglas was rather handsome, and to a little kid he didn't look so doggone short.

Wow! I find stories like this very interesting. That is amazing she was able to see them both. Thanks for sharing!

Like this one. Can you tell us how you did it? Which lens for circular effect? How to get the environmental background! Inquiring minds want to know! :>)

That is a spectacular, original, dramatic, and somewhat disturbing artistic creation. Not sure I would trust walking under it. Many thanks for posting the image. It will stick in my mind a long time.
