Not exactly macro, but taken with this lens (non DG version) used as a plain telephoto. We wedged some monkey nuts into the tree in our garden for our regular visitors. I did not need to wait for long to get a few shots as they tried to force the nuts. Camera was a K-1 with Natural colour pattern. Shot through window.

Although I am not using this lens a lot, I like it very much though.Even for my macro photography it is a specialty lens. But I am lucky to own it.
I grabbed this one years ago when I bought my K10D. The colours are fine.

Wonderful shots MikeP ! Incredibly sharp and detailed -- did you manage this handholding or use a tripod? Especially love the soft backgrounds on the last 3.

Here's another one.

What's interesting about this one is that I have been contacted by Dr. Matthias Buck, Assistant Curator of Invertebrate Zoology because they'd like to use it part of a permanent exhibit about flower pollinisation in the Natural History gallery of the Royal Alberta Museum at Edmonton, Alberta in 2018.

Looks like this thread could use a little jolt. I still feel incredibly lucky to have found such a nice copy of this lens.

Indeed, we shouldn't neglect this remarkable lens - one of the precious few apochromatic lenses made for K mount.

It has been a favorite of mine for product photography:

Pentax K5IIs - Sigma 180mm f/3.5 APO EX
Burson Supreme Sound V5i Op-Amps

Pentax KP- Sigma 180mm f/3.5 APO EX

Monoculars: Carl Zeiss Vs Pentax.

It is also indispensable for photographing flighty and elusive insects.

Pentax K5IIs - Sigma 180mm f/3.5 APO EX

Pentax K5IIs - Sigma 180mm f/3.5 APO EX - Pentax AF160FC ring-flash (Another rare item)
