That is a heavy asking price even considering it is a DG version
The K mount DG versions are even rarer than the non DG versions of the lens.

Not the greatest deal ever, but this lens is not frequently available.
I thought it would be worth sharing it with pentaxians here...

AFAIK The HSM version of the Sigma 180mm f/3.5 Macro was never produced for K mount.

Diffraction be damned!

I had set myself the goal of becoming better with select focus but my old large format days got the better of me and I found myself back at F22 for this shot. Also my first pixel shift attempts -- some sharpening but not much else -- seems there is a lot to learn and experiment with but I am wondering how much if any pixel shift helps fight the effects of diffraction -- this shot without pixel shift actually looks very slightly sharper in the highlight areas in lightroom until I added a little sharpening to the pixel shift file and brought down the highlights slightly. Have any of you experimented along these lines?

If what the reviews on this site say about the Pentax 200mm being even sharper than this lens are true that must be a monster of a lens -- hopefully someday it will get updated.

I am enjoying this lens ....

woops -- that's actually the F16 version, the F22 version has very slightly more depth of field but you get the point ...

I was lucky enough to come across on of these for a very affordable price. The version I have is the APO 180 Macro 180mm 3.5.
On the K-1.

(x-posted in the insecta thread)

I experimented the Pentax K-1 + PENTAX Helicoid Extension Tube K + Sigma EX 180mm F3.5 APO Macro DG
1/50s, ƒ/5.6, ISO 200 (natural light)

images stacking with Zerene Stacker (12 images, PMax method)

Just not sure how to calculate the image ratio with this adapter if the 180 macro is 1:1?

Found this fly hanging under an American Elm leave.

The insect has died in that position after it has been infected with entomopageous fungus that introduced the insect body.
We can see part of the mycelium going out of the abdomen. Sometimes, the fungus covers the entire body of the insect.

The technique has to be improved as when we zoom in, we can see some blurred bands on the leave. I will need to make smaller increments...
