Nice work with what might be my most used lens on 645. I especially admire #2 from this set.
Thank you. I am finding the 150 to be a good landscape lens, when this focal length is appropriate, of course. The 150 also makes nice blurred backgrounds for close-up shots.

My K-1 arrived Monday, I spent some time setting it up and taking a few test shots Tuesday, I got on a plane Wednesday, and I started in earnest Thursday. A bit comical learning a new camera, significantly different to the K-5, while also learning the Mirex adapter, but it got easier as the day went on.

SMC Pentax-A 645 1:3.5 150mm with polarizer, probably f/11

It's a pixel-shift resolution image and I think the resolution is amazing. I haven't posted a 100% crop because in this day of high-resolution monitors I no longer know what a 100% crop will look like on various monitors. At any rate, so far the 645 lenses seem to be up to the K-1's resolution.

And here's a shift pano using the same lens:

I ended up cropping this one somewhat, but without cropping the format is 66x24, wider than xpan format. (The Mirex adapter allows 15mm of shift in either direction.)

Random question, were you on the trail coming from the emerald pools heading towards the grotto in the morning? Cause i might have passed you on the trail, or at least i saw someone carrying a k1 and a large tripod. Anyways great pictures.

That would be me! I think we said hello, if I'm making the right guess.

Pentax-A 645 120mm on the K-1

I really love the 120mm macro for my flower photography. The macro feature is 1:1, with color rendering that seems very true to life and sometimes yields a very three-dimensional effect. I gave up my FA 120 in a trade to acquire the D FA 90mm, but really do not miss it that much because the 120-A feels right at home on K-1 or 645D. I do not use auto-focus for macro or close-up photography any way. However, I will probably re-buy the FA 120 at some point in the future.

Butterfly Weed, one of my favorites. As is the A120; I've been wishing I brought it on this trip, but it's not a small lens.

Here's another shift pano, this time uncropped, for about 66x24, which has almost the same diagonal as full-frame 645 format, so it fits within the image circle.

Using lateral shift again, this time with the camera in portrait orientation. With the camera this way, the pentaprism hump interferes with shift in one direction. I'll admit I was caught off guard by this, even though the company is very clear as to this issue. I had been hoping to use this to get 54x36 effective sensor size, getting close to "full frame" 645. Instead I'll have to settle for about 42x36, about the same area as digital crop sensor 645, with a more square aspect ratio. This one I have cropped to square.

Lovely image! How much is the maximum upside shift with the Mirex before it hits the prism hump?

About 3mm. Unobstructed shift is 15mm.

Edit: I guess I should try one of these using the composition adjustment feature to extend the shift a little bit. Even a couple of millimeters would get me to 44x36, better than digital 645.

Thanks! That's not a lot.

Wow, really nice shots everyone. The Mirex sounds like it is a lot fun to use. As an old large format guy I often find myself lost when using the DSLR -- it is used to be just a touch of tilt on the 4x5, figure out where the tiny unsharp zone would fall unnoticed & pop everything in focus from near to far (f22 and 32 didn't hurt either) .... now it's focus stacking and hyper focal distances ...

Baro-nite -- do you know if you can uses 67 lenses with a 67 to 645 adapter on the Mirex?

A couple of shots with the 67 135mm and 200mm on the K-1. The dogs are 135mm and Cyrus Chestnut is the 200. The 200 in particular had some serious purple fringing.

I don't have the 67 to 645 adapter but I don't know why it wouldn't fit.
