Quick Snapshots

These images are cropped 30% - 60%. Sorry they're just snaps but that's all I have time for. OOC jpeg's levels adjusted in PSE. On the image with granddaughter on son's shoulders, enlarge and notice the detail in his hand - reminder - this is a low-res image. . . . .

Results of a decentering test, all images wide open at F1.4 and 100% crops: center and extreme FF corners:
(I forgot to got "M" mode so exposure is vastly different)
All images SooC JPG L* and cropped, no raw converter involved.

no sharpening, vignetting adjustment and a bit of exposure, shadow adjustments. First time I've used the astrotracer on the K1 so I'm sure I';; improve

To my untrained astrophotographic eye that looks pretty good. Negligible coma.

A shot at f1.4, adjusted in Lightroom to taste, with a touch of fake grain added...

The D FA* 50/1.4 bokeh resembles me the bokeh of Sigma 50 Art. It is so soft that it looks almost unpleasant.

If you take a more holistic view of the image then the combination of high levels of sharpness of in focus areas with very soft out of focus areas is exactly what is required to make those in-focus areas stand out to their best effect - yes, people go on about bokeh as if it were something in itself and the ideal picture would be entirely out of focus, but it's the ability to contrast with in-focus areas that really matters, and that's what both lenses deliver.
