I am still struggling to understand the comma issue. Can someone explain what is going on here.. in these images? As in what should have been vs what it is.

Is this some kind of stripe flaring? Cropped from the top left corner. It is the sun.

The lens finally is available in Singapore and I decided to plunge into owning it.

Took the lens out with the K1 MKII (upgraded) to Garden by the bay. Hot weather and need a cooling place. That's the best place.

Thoughts of the lens:
It is definitely well built. Pentax * lens. One thing for sure, it is no longer the old Pentax Style where it always produce small lens.
Comparing with the FA*85, it is so much bigger, i cannot imagine how big the future DFA*85 will be.

Photos of the lens at F1.4 and it does really well, sharp and lovely bokeh.

No Astrotracer on the Canon. At least one 30s exposure that should have out of round stars, especially since they are out of focus. some at 8s show some coma but not bad except at the very edges of the images.

Well ..... early Black Friday offers worked their dubious charms and the lens arrived today... going to sell DA*55 to lighten the pain.

First impressions: slightly smaller than expected, but very heavy indeed for the size. Even the box was a dead weight in my hand. Beautiful construction.

First couple of test shots... goodness me this thing is good. Great AF performance on K-1, the bokeh I hoped for, and astounding sharpness wide open.

Cant wait to share some proper shots but any worries about ‘will I use it, is it worth it?’ melted quickly. I actually found myself feeling very excited to use it.

I had much the same response but I really hate selling the DA* 55 since it is such a compact lens with great IQ. But it is foolish, I suppose, to try to keep both.

I never really nailed DA*55 on K-1 somehow, but I really love it on APSC bodies. Such a light and amazing ~85mm f1.4 equivalent. I can’t see me reaching for it on FF with the D FA* at hand, and do have a couple of manual options around this FL (A50 1.2 and Revuenon 55 1.2).

We’ll see anyway, no need to decide till once I’ve given the new 50 a workout.

Back on topic....Thanks for the amazing images here everyone, you made the decision a lot easier to ‘self-justify’
