agreed, plus it definitely needs a hood, which is on the way...
Sigma did something they called the "Perfect Hood" for it, is that what you got?

I find that regular tulip 52mm hoods work well with my 24mm 2.8 lenses. Like you, I use them on APS-C.

Hello, I use a rubber hood, a cheap circular one, half extended because of the wide angle. I find it much more efficient on apsc than the original one, designed for FF.
I agree it's a must have for this lens ...
Nice shots Pepperberry

And here I thought I didn't want another 24mm lens! That Sigma is wonderful...

But here's a 24mm you're also familiar with - used to be yours Vivitar (Cosina) MC 24 2.8:

ah, the long-lost Viv 24...

this Sigma 24 tends to over-expose, like most lenses (I think it's actually me) but has a nice close-focusing MFD and accurate AF...

it'll probably come up as the Single In lens next month...

I look forward to seeing all you can do with it!

And it's not you. Sigma manual focus lenses always over-expose (and yours is a manual focus era that was ported over to the AF era because it was so good), the more you stop down the more they over expose. I had a Sigma UC 70-210mm that over-exposed by at least a stop at f/5.6 and 2 stops by f8. It was awful. And we're not the only ones to have seen this, it's been brought up at other times in this forum.

gotcha - early on, I had a Sigma Mini-Wide (28/2.8) that I could never really get into the groove with.... that's probably where I started my anti-28mm lens stance...

24mm for Environmental Portraits

I just found this thread and love it, it may be my top lens thread so far, which makes me think I'm right when I thought that wide angle was my jam. Awesome pictures everyone. Thanks for sharing.

I originally bought this Bower/Rokinon/Samyang 24mm 1.4 lens for astrophotography, but it quickly found another surprising use: portraits. But not really normal portraits, because on full-frame the distortion can be enough to make faces look large and limbs small if too close. It works best for environmental portraits, where you want to capture people and their surroundings to tell a story. I'll let a couple of my example pictures explain what I mean.

I also do have several astro examples with this lens, but I'll save that for another day and another post

while I am enjoying the Super-Wide II, this 24mm lens is probably my favorite of the AF bunch...

Very nice !
Don't you think it is a very good overall photo tool (macro, landscape, close up, ...), small and light, a sort of swiss knife ...
35 mm equivalent, and yours is autofocus too, what else (I thought it was the super wide ... nevertheless very nice)
