Don't you think it is a very good overall photo tool (macro, landscape, close up, ...), small and light, a sort of swiss knife ...
35 mm equivalent, and yours is autofocus too, what else
I agree with all of that.... but the later EX DG model is the Super-Wide II x 10 as far as color, clarity, light-handling, etc...

the EX DG tends to be more accurate as far as exposure and colors than the Super-Wide II....

granted, the EX DG is also more expensive and is considerably larger...

the Super-Wide II will probably be my Single In lens for November, so it will get a thorough run....

Sure they don't play in the same category, but I am confident in the fact that you will be able to get the best results next months (proof is that my first impression you took these shots with the SWII ... )

As I can see, you didn't take too much time to acclimate this lens , very nice colors, sharpness and bokeh in your hands !

thank you - once I learned about the lens' tendency to overexpose, its a fine lens....

I'm liking this one more than the Sigma 24 1.8 pictures... This lens has a lot of character. I really like it.

Most zooms have sharpness peak at centerpoint/average focal length; but, a few have their highest performance all the way to the wide angle side.

Meanwhile...

The Vivitar Cosina 24mm f2.8.
I have the version with the "A" and scalloped rubber focus ring. Same optics, I think.
It is a fine thing at f5.6 or higher, with the sun at your back. Some Fuji 400 was involved. The lens outperformed the film.

Or wide open and up close.

For sharpness, it seems that wide open is fine for a very short range, f4 is good for about 8ft, and f5.6 gets about 90ft distance.
After I get a sturdy tripod, then I'll try a landscape at f8 and see just how far the 'reach' may be.

Flaw: If the light source is in view, it does lower contrast and red-fringe. That could be a lot of fun with fall foliage. We won't need the didymium filter.
