The funny thing is, I keep thinking I barely use this lens, and yet I have a few photos that I really like with it So perhaps not an everyday lens, but it has its magic

Great shots!

I particularly like the second image. (The one looking up in the atrium.) My understanding is that the fisheye was developed for astronomy, allowing a wider view of the night sky.

For those who have Lightroom, there is a lens correction preset for the Rokinon 8mm. Open Lightroom. Select the desired image. Select "develop". On the right side of the screen, scroll down to "Lens Correction". At the top of the Lens Correction menu, select "Profile". Below "Profile" are check several boxes. Check "Enable Profile Corrections". Below that are several drop-down menus. In the top one (Labeled "Make", select "Rokinon". Below "Make" is another drop-down menu, "Model". Select "Rokinon 8mm f3.5 UMC Fish-eye CS" or "Rokinon 8mm f3.5 UMC Fish-eye CS II" for whichever model you have. Finally, below "Model" is one final drop-down menu, "Profile". Select "Adobe (Rokinon 8mm f3.5 UMC Fish-eye CS, PENTAX)". Lightroom will automatically correct the distortion but the correction will crop off a lot of the edges..

It's been too long since anyone post here. I love this lens for shooting the stars, and the surroundings beneath them. [IMG][/IMG]

Just used my Samyang for the first time for ages. On the K01. I had had a 135 on my K1 all day hunting portraits and needed a change of approach for a change -oh what a change!

Is this a circular fish eye on FF or does it cover the entire image frame?

I would not recommend it. I've tried this lens on a K-1, and it vignettes heavily, you would see the entire round circle as well as the hood. easily 50% of the image area is unusable.

I thought the version with the removable hood was better in terms of coverage... but I have the fixed hood only version.

Here is a file shot with the 8mm with non removable hood taken with the K1. I have superimposed the pixel count of the K01 on it to show you that there is little image circle to spare after apsc format. But still it is a perfectly valid choice to use on the K1 but you know you are only going to get a 16mp image out of it. And still with a 180 degree FOV on the diagonal. It has its uses.
EDIT As I said I superimposed the pixel count of the K01 on it but an accurate result depends on the individual pixel size of the 2 cameras being identical. I know the size is very similar but I don't know if they are exactly the same.

Thanks for sharing that also, I've been pretty impressed with the 117 degree FOV of the Rokinon 14mm rectilinear and the 180 degree diagonal FOV with the Sigma 15mm FE to look any further on the K-1, but certainly if you have the Rokinon 8mm it can give a 16Mp crop with the same FOV to the Sigma 15mm FE on FF.

And looking at aaacb,s circular image above with the hoodless model you get an image circle of about 6300 pixels on the K1. A square crop in that comes out to a respectable 20mp image. Don't know what the FOV would be but it would be more than 180 degrees.
