Wind was 17mph on the Illinois river yesterday when i shot this with the sears 135mm macro, no A setting. While it is blurred, i find the color rendition and glow/watercolor effect of this lens to be very pleasing. Its a nice addition to my kit.

OMG! I might be half a$$ drunk right now due to walking up and down Bourbon Street all night, but I have to say that right now that's one of the most pleasing shots I've seen in quite some time!!! Seriously, the blurring only makes this a better capture, IMO. It's almost like a pastel painting. Can you send me the original?
Thank you!

Thanks for the comments on this pic, miniman. this is a crop from the larger image to show the effects from the 'breezy blur'. sent you a message concerning meet and greet.

Sears Cousin? - JcPenny 135mm

Duh_vinci's great 'glow' effect shots in this thread got me to thinking of my JcPenny 135mm with Macro (1:4). I figured it was junk because of the glow I was getting at 1:4 setting (in addition to sticky/slow aperture blades so it can only be used wide open f2.8).

I decided I'd give it another try, although not nearly as good as Duh_vinci's work, I am kinda happy with the result.

I guess this JCP lens may be the same as the Sears 135?

Both at f2.8 (obviously) 125/sec zero PP.

Looks like some good shots!

Here's one from my New Orleans trip with the Sears 135:

I really like the 135, and there's no way to argue with the price!
Now, if they only made a 500mm.....

Duh_Vinci: you keep posting the most amazing images. I have to get out my Sears tomorrow to see if I can equal them.

Dust it off, Robin!

Nice photos from the zoo, never even seen that 300mm lens...

Capable performers for appropriate subjects, fun to use, cheap, smooth focusing - I like them!

Latest aquisitions just arrived today, haven't had a chance to do anything other than check functionality...

- Auto Sears 55mm f1.4: Well used but looks very clean, snappy and clean aperature blades, smooth focus, with a VERY light noise from the focus at points, sounds like maybe a little grit in there somewhere.
- Auto Sears 200mm f3.5: Also well used, clean and functional overall, but the front element seems a little pitted in places, not sure if it's just the coating or the glass itself. We'll see if it affects the images at all.

Price included an all-black Sears TLS, seems functional but well used and brassed in a number of areas.

Oh, price?

$9.00

Congratulations! That 55/1.4 should be some lens. And the brassing, that's character.

Jester - where are the photos?

Ok, little addition to the "Sears" lineup. Got 2xTC from Ryan - thanks man, great shape! So windy outside, tough to shoot...

First set - with EE 50mm f1.4 m42 (wide open)

Sears EE 135mm f2.8 m42 (wide open)

135 f2.8 PK

Although I still have to get used to manual focus and the shallow DoF, I'm starting to get satisfactory results. Here are some samples of my 135 f2.8 PK.
I really love the bokeh I get wide open.
