Does anyone here know any background about this lens? I'd never seen a Korean Sears 50 before I recently found mine as part of a Sears camera lot on eb*y.
It has a metal barrel, 6 aperture blades and the aperture ring has no half stops. The focus ring turns the "wrong" way for Pentax shooters and has about 90 degrees of rotation. The minimum focus distance is 60cm.
Thus far, I've used it mostly with my K10D. I'd say it's a bit soft wide open, but gets nicely sharp by f/4. My copy seems to be decentered, so it's not going to get much use for landscapes. Although it seems to work better for subject isolation...
f/1.7
f/5.6 with extension tube
(Both shots taken with my K10D and were post processed.)
Two of my favorite "value" lenses are the Korean made Sears 28mm & 135mm with PK-A mounts. My newfound PK 50mm makes me wonder if there might actually be a Sears PK-A 50mm out there somewhere...?
