The Chinon will look something like this:

There are various rikenon versions, but they usually look something like this:

Mamiya also made several of the Sears lenses, but I think that they were all m42 rather than K mount.

Both of these lenses are excellent, but IMO, the Chinon 50mm f/1.7 is among the best Japanese 50s ever made. No surprise, because at that point in history, Chinon was in possession of IP from both Tomioka and Alpa.
it is the Rikenon version, in mint condition.

@Axel Rivera How do you like the A7? I was thinking about getting the A7r.

I just bought an Auto Sears/Sekor CS 28mm 2.8 Kmount off the web for $20. Description says "like new in case" so we will see. The photos look good.

I don't see much info on the 28mm Sears/Sekor lenses. Are they the same build quality as the 50 and 135mm versions I see? Can anyone point me to a thread or privide some more info on this model? I plan to use it for astro photography with settings around f4, 30sec exp. with my K-30.

Thanks and I'll post pix and a report when it gets here.

Just be aware that the Sekor version *may* not mount to a Pentax - it could be a Mamiya/Sekor in which case it'd have a completely different mount assembly. Sears strayed from the Pentax fold for a few years back in the 70's and so you have the rare "NOPE" lenses as far as fitting a PK camera goes. I want to say (without looking it up) that the CS is one of the odd balls that won't fit properly.

I wish I could make my Sears 50 1.7 (Rikenon also) to look as good as you make yours look, Axel!

These are very nice images from a sleeper lens. I wonder if anyone has compared the Sears Rikenon 50/2 and 50/1.7 versions vs. the Chinon 50/1.7. I do note that sometimes there are magenta colored highlights when using certain of these lenses, but not others. Easily correctable in post though.

I have both...

IMHO, the Chinon is better because it has more aperture stops and a shorter minimal focus distance (by close to 6 inches or so if I remember right). If you aren't planning on shooting at the minimal distance and don't really need those extra clicks past f/16, then the preference swings towards the Rikenons because they're smaller, lighter and just look nicer.

Yeah, I'm starting to realize it looks like it won't fit. It hasn't shipped yet so I've contacted the seller to see what's up. If not...anyone need a "Like New in the case" 28mm sears/sekor cs?

Or can it be adapted to my PentaxQ ?

Here's what it looks like:

I've never actually seen a 28mm PK-mount Sears with the red text on it. I'm not saying they don't exist, but they usually are the Chinon-looking 'yellow and green' macro design.

FWIW, don't give up on looking, the 28mm Sears macro is a pretty amazing little lens. Stupidly smooth bokeh (for what it is), nice colors, and an amazing minimal focus distance which means you can get some impressively good shots of small stuff without having to play games.

Anything that says "Sekor" on it is a Mamiya, and anything that says CS won't fit standard m42. The CS lenses are actually quite good.

As far as the Q, it depends on the diameter of your m42-Q adapter.

EDIT - Brain hiccup apparently - I' thinking of the SX (which is the modified mm42 mount), not the CS, which is the weird bayonet.
Thanks for the info! The seller already shipped the lens but swears it is a Kmount, so we shall see when it gets here. Here's the only other photo I have of the lens, if that helps anyone determine the type.

This is how the Sears 50mm f1.7 looks in an A7 in my hands.

And this was a shot before that with the natural light

I feel like I have a Leica (And I never had a Leica in my hands)
