"The 200mm... the seemly unloved these days focal length club"

Not many people seem to be using this focal length these days, I'm not sure why... as I'm at the moment having an extended illicit affair with my “Gorgeous Lady” (Pentax-A* 200mm F2.8 ED).

Here's the first image to to get the ball rolling.

My SMC 200 f4 sees occasional action.
I'm trying for Andromeda with it now without success (no fault of the lens!), it has it's uses .
Great shot BTW.

I was torn between th DA* 200 and DA* 60-250 this past Spring - ultimately choosing the zoom for flexibility as every other lens in my bag is a prime. After several months of use, and loving the image quality of the 60-250; I have found that 90%+ of my photos have been shot around 200 mm. I do wish that I had the extra stop of light from time to time.

I plan on upgrading my K-5II in the new year or Spring with a KP or hopefully K-3II replacement. If the improved sensor eliminates the need for an additional stop of light then I’m set. If not there will be a 200 prime in my bag shortly after. On crop sensors the 200 is a sweet focal length for shooting sports.

I bought an FA*200/2.8 from a member who was in some need at the time. Despite all my good intentions it remains an ‘I intended to’ lens. Your recent posts should change that.

I find my DFA*70-200 tends to gravitate to the long end. Does that count?

I have a nice copy of the SMC A 200/4 that doesn't get used nearly enough - I even Singled with her a couple of months ago....

An underappreciated 200mm

This is a great addition to the lens club, Kerrowdown. Here's a dahlias in decline, trying its best to maintain its beauty. Shot today under a cloudy sky using a K -5iis + K 200/2.5, shot at f2.5, handheld.
