Sample shots with the Mamiya C 45mm f 2.8

Sample shots from inside the house (16 degrees outside the house!).

Note that the wide angle Mamiya C 45mm when installed on its native Mamiya 645 camera would produce an image with a FOV approximately equivalent to that produced by a standard 135mm 28mm lens when that lens is installed on the K-1.
However, note also that when the Mamiya C 45mm is installed on the Pentax K-1 full-frame camera, it produces an image approximately equivalent to that produced by a standard 135mm 72mm lens, making it in effect a long normal or short telephoto lens.

I find it to be an excellent lens with a useful FOV and a convenient minimum focal distance (MFD) of about 18 inches, meaning it can easily capture images such as the still life fruit and whiskey box shown below. I will try it out on flowers when our garden is back in season this summer.

KIT: Pentax K-1 with (adapted) Mamiya C 45mm f 2.8 and strobe Pentax AF200T.

Review of the Mamiya 645 C 55mm

Brief review of the Mamiya 645 C 55mm f 2.8 lens. Claims the 55 is the sharpest of the 645 C lenses. Guess I better put it on my wish list!

Fastest medium format lens rides again . . .

Here is a sampling of photos from inside the house (14 degrees outside!) to give a little bit of an idea of what this lens can do on the K-1. Most of the shots are in our sunroom with all natural light.

KIT: Pentax K-1 with (adapted) Mamiya C 80mm f 1.9 shootin' wide open.

Thanks! It’s a great little lens. Bokeh can be busy but I find I like it.

Finally a Mamiya thread!!! (Note my lens of the year last year was my beloved Mamiya Sekor 55/1.8)...

Well, here's a few of my Mamiya shots that I enjoy (all M42 on my K-50):

35/3.5

55/1.8

I’ve got a 55/1.8 I haven’t messed with much yet, I’ve been so enamored with the 58/1.7.
Neither are chrome nose though. I really like the look of the chromes.

The 55/1.8 is to me the sharpest lens in my legacy collection. Maybe not the most artistic, but not far behind (the SMC-Tak 50/1.4 I believe is the most artistic in my possession). Also, the 55/1.8 has a nice 3D quality when shooting portraits (I do not post my portraits online, so I cannot give you an example).

What lens is better or worse? I am not qualified to state such a thing. What I can say is that I like better the chrome 55/1.8 (Mamiya) than the Takumar or K 55/1.8.

PS - those shots with the 58/1.7, especially the rooster, are outstanding. I bet that 58/1.7 blows many competitors out the water.
