I decided to take out my WEP Auto Weiton 35/2 last weekend. I've owned this lens since 2016 I believe and used it a little back then but found it wasn't up to standard. Later I replaced it with a Takumar 35/3.5 because that is pretty much sharp at every aperture.

Well, I don't know why I haven't used it more really, maybe my standards have shifted

It's okay, if maybe a bit dull stopped down, but it has a fairly short min focusing distance and is fun wide open for portraits too if you mind the light a little.

Edit: Finally did some research on this lens and it seems to be identical to the Panagor 35/2.

Wow, that must be pretty rare... I hadn't even heard of it... was that before they invented the retrofocus (hence the slow aperture...)?

A quick search shows that Angenieux started introducing the retrofocus lenses around 1950... I couldn't find it for sure but it looks like this design isn't retrofocus by the lens characteristics. The subtitute lens (Takumar 35mm f/3.5) is a retrofocus design and performed much better in terms of vignetting, which is something the retrofocus design fixed. Apparently this f4 version doesn't perform all that well on full frame but should be ok on APS-C.
