More portrait work with DA* 55mm f/1.4

I can't remember if I used K5 or K3 ii for each of the photos but it was with either of those 2 bodies.

I photograph mostly during holidays and do portrait works while not on travels usually if i get a bug from watching Instagram posts or other sources... all my Pentax gears need more use as they are always sitting in my camera bags apart from perhaps about 30 days in a year when I would be on holiday

I got this lens thru auction, since then it becomes my go to lens if the weather is not convincing (melbourne can have 4 seasons in a day)

How do we expect that the new DFA* 50 f/1.4 would improve these photos? Sure, faster focus and less vignetting but what else, if anything? I have owned both lenses although I do not have the DFA anymore. My tests showed slightly less PF on the DFA but I wonder what more skilled members might see that I didn't.

no idea - it's highly unlikely that I'll own a copy of the D FA* lens, mainly because of size and cost...

I think it's what you said. Also sharper edges past wider than f2.8. I don't usually shoot my DA *55 past f2 on full frame because it does vignette pretty badly and has weak borders. But that doesn't really matter in a lot of images either.

But I've been happy enough with mine that I haven't searched out a DFA *50

Hi, I just want to share my experiment on DA* 55mm with custom hood (modified pentax 28-80mm hood). On my K1 Mk2 and wide open (f1.4), I find the dark corner which is visible when I use the original hood is almost non existent, but of course vignetting is still there. Initially, I was using percy (thomas' friend) with white background for my experiment but then I switched to brick wall.

Here we go, below picture was taken without hood at f1.4

100% crop of top left corner

and below was taken with original hood at f1.4

100% crop at top left corner

last one was taken with custom hood at f1.4

and 100% crop of top left corner

And this is the custom hood I used, sorry the picture was automatically rotated after I uploaded to my album

K-1 and DA*55 1.4, I'm taking some 1.4 images, not because I particularly want to, but just because I can.

It's beer o'clock around here, but I got in from building the new garden shed 10 minutes early? What to do?
Take a picture of the beer, sorry, no retakes.
