Pentax-110 system film lenses on APS-C (*plus FF now*)

Hi,

I would like to start a thread for the use of Pentax-110 film lenses on APS-C sensors and possibly later on full frame.

I have been using the Pentax-110 film lenses on my FujiFilm X bodies (X-E1 & X-E2) which some nice results depending on the particular lens and how it is used.

There are no apertures present in these lenses, but I have been experimenting with added on or incorporating fixed apertures to these lenses to possibly increase sharpness and depth of field. I will add some commented images about these experiments later on ...

Here are the most recent images I have taken using the 18/2.8 lens wide open on the X-E2 via a Chinese adapter purchased on eBay. The last image is the diminutive 24/2.8 on the X-E1.

Here are some samples of the Pentax-110 50mm f/2.8 lens wide open and without an aperture ... taken with a FujiFilm X-E1. This was one of the first outings with the 50/2.8 ...

Here are some examples of the 24/2.8 ... a favorite lens for its small size. Its sharp in the middle, but falls off a lot towards the edges. These images are with an added "diaphragm circle" which was a paper-hole reinforcement sticker added to the outside of the rear element ... just stuck on it like a sticker.

Some lovely shots Jean. I'm impressed that these lenses have a big enough image circle to cover APS-C.

Merci Sandy,

There's more to come and I will try to document my modifications and experiments so that others can try them out as well.

Cheers, J

I'm definitely keen to get a 50/2.8 to try on the Q7.

I have a 50mm, 70mm and 24mm which I have played with on the Q system. I never checked the image circle. Interesting how much they will cover.

Me too. I'd not considered they'd be big enough. You learn something everyday it seems!

Some wonderful shots here, John... a combination of great photography, characterful rendering and accomplished processing

I'm quite tempted to try one or two of these Pentax 110 lenses on my A7 MkII in crop mode... though the last thing I need is more LBA

Thin rubber stoppers supposedly make good aperture add on devices for these.

One of my projects is to create a K-mount (body cap) mount adapter ... basically just a right-sized opening for a Pentax-110 lens on a black plastic body cap.

Merci bein BMC ... it should be interesting to do that with a Nex mount ... and to see how coverage there would be in FF mode.

A few more images with the Pentax-110 50/2.8 wide open on the Fuji X-E1 ... here I had a better knowledge of the lens and further subjects seem a bit easier now ... taken at a Paris festival, La Fte de l'Huma ...
