Am I allowed to post my F-series lenses here too?

In the meantime, I also got the F 50/1.7.

I'll start with my night photo of the St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, shot with the F 70-210 zoom:

That shot is as awesome as your F lineup/collection! Its obvious from the shots posted that these are very capable lenses.... and the photogs also!

Those are awesome macros! Beautiful in every respect. Heres a crop from the f*300mm. Not quite Macro quality, but decent for a telephoto-nonmacro lens

A few questions

Hello

I am looking for info about SMC-F 50mm F1.7.
I have a DA40mm F2.8 LTD but considering this lens as a low light supplement.
Is the lens sharp between F1.7 to F2.8 ?
When you stop down this lens, is it because the DOF is too thin or that the lens is too soft ?

I have another question as well. Do you think the SMC-F 70-210mm is sharper than DA 55-300mm ?

Thanks for helping

Kind regards
.lars

Just got an F 50 1.7 in the marketplace, (sold my 1st copy last year,) so I guess
I'm back in the F club! Problem is, I also have an FA 50 1.7 on the way (couldn't
pass up the price,) so now I'll have to decide which to keep, and for what reason...

f/2.2:

f/2.2 crop, focus was on the ball:

f/2.0 crop, good detail retained at distnace for a 50mm at f/2:

f/1.7 crop, discovering ants!

f/1.7:

Now you can do the most boring shoot out ever!

I think you'll like the FA 50, but I'm not sure you'll be able to tell the difference!

btw that ant crop looks about 2.2 as well, judging by the shape of the ring there, no?

You are correct, good eye, that ant crop is at f/2.2, not f/1.7.

I think I'll spare everyone the FA vs.F shootout, though.

I love the black mat finish of my smc f 50mm 2.8 macro.
Yes, one of the best club and may I add these F lenses belong to the best AF Pentax lenses?

Here's one with the F 24-50mm - not the most common lens, but a good one.

I own the 28-80mm.I only paid $16AUS for it,and I must say it was a bargain. It craps over my Sigma 28-80mm macro version in overall performance.I use it for my walkaround lens, because it also has the added bonus of macro, which is not 'true macro",but still does the job.
