I know I could look in the database, but I rather hear from an user: Do you know if the F-series 80-200 has similar optics with the M-series 4.5 version?

I hate to love my M 80-200/4.5 - my glass has some imperfections between the 2nd and 3rd or 3rd and 4th (can't remeember) than I cannot clean up (and have posted about prior)... STILL the glass gives me sharp images. Still - it is my go to when on vacation (long range lens to carry)...

Paul - the way you separated those mid ground tress from the background palms reminded me of my M-series lens... Great shot BTW

Not sure - The F is a bit slower with an f/4.7 max aperture. The F uses 49mm filters as well. It's been a good lens for me, and was cheap as chips. I've never used the M, but my guess would be that it has better optics than the F. I believe my photos above were shot wide open, probably f/5.6. Thanks Ed!
