Nice, are those Indian Paintbrush? There aren't any species in that group present where I live but I got to see some in Colorado.
Thanks, and yes you are correct. IIRC, the Colorado species looks quite a bit different from the Texas version. The bluebonnets are popping up around here as well

I've been using my 35-70 for a lot of biological surveying, so most of my shots are for identification and recording purposes but I can't help but enjoy how beautiful the rending is even on shots that aren't taken with aesthetics in mind... of course, when I can I make sure the pictures look pretty too. ;-) A couple highlights from the last week, featuring Blue Cohosh, an Eastern Garter Snake, and a wasp in genus Spilichneumon:

I concur in your favorable comments about the F/35-70. I sold my very beat up A/35-70 when I found the F on eBay for a really low price, and have been enjoying its image quality.

A couple with a F80-200/4.7-5.6 on my K20D at the Hope Zoo in Kingston. Jamaica. Not bad for $30 IMHO. Did a bit of PP with Faststone, some cropping and resizing as I shoot at maximum resolution which is 14.6 MP on this camera. Critiques are welcome. Be gentle. LOL.

Nice looking shots from an underrated lens. (I paid $17 for mine )

A couple photos from a hike on some horse trails in late April. K10D and F80-200:
