The F Club!

.

The F is to the autofocus lines as the M's are to the MF lines - the un-appreciated
middle child.

Truth be told, the F line has some of the best AF lenses for the money you can buy -
lets give em some love!

I'll start with the F 50 f/1.7, at ISO 800, f/1.7 and a few f/2 and f/2.4 - very
thin DOF, but low-light center sharpness is why you love this baby:

Hey frank, that's cheating... F* lenses not counted. Envy...

Here's my only F series lens that I got:

Gives good shots and the "macro" close focusing feature is useful.

The thing is, while the optics are good, the normal F series lenses have this dated look aesthetically speaking. The focusing ring is thin hard grey plastic with the body wrapped with grey rubber that can peel in some cases.

Frank, incredible colors & sharpness in those captures, there. That lens came
up in the local Craigslist, asking price: $450. By the time I got in touch with the
guy about 45 minutes after the listing, he had sold it to someone for $700
after a frantic bidding war. A couple weeks later the buyer put it up for sale for
$1000 and I think it sold. Crazy good lens.

creampuff - you should post some shots from that lens. Also, I kinda agree
on the cosmetic 'look' of the F's, I've grown to kinda like the look now, don't
know why.

Well, that's the only F lens I've got now. Had to show off abit

I agree w/ you on the dated look of F lenses, the MF rings could've been wider.

Thanks. $700 for an F*300/4.5 is a steal. It's a good buy even at $1000 if the condition is good

Nice shots!

Here's a wide-open shot (1.7) from the 50mm - ISO 1600, and focus point is
on the stroller. I like this shot for some reason, he had tipped over the stroller
and was trying to put it back upright;

Contributing mine... F*300mm f4.5!

I just love taking these Sunbirds! Most of them only 2 - 3 inches large.

Thanks, Creampuff! I just need to get more of such shots with greater consistency. ;-)
