Maybe not a beautiful image or lens, but certainly one for my fetish of fast lenses - today I received this glass gem in the mail, a Zeiss R-Biotar 50/0.77, I hope I'll be able to adapt it to my Fuji X-E2, flange distance is extremely short and only allows focus at ~20cm distance.
It's certainly giving me Canon 7/50mm 0.95 vibes

nice - if you are able to mount it and take some shots, I'd be interested in seeing them.....

I've done a few test shots by simply holding the lens in the one hand and the camera in the other. The images came out very soft, any highlights create strong glowy flaring, and as a result it takes the description of "dreamy" to a whole other level
Adding a long black cardboard lens hood didn't improve the image much, but I never expected this lens to have good optical performance.

Wow. What would that lens originally have been used on?

the "R" stands for "Roentgen"; I believe it's for viewing x-rays....

According to what I found, they have been used to take photographs of fluorescent X-Ray screens, used in Tubeculosis-diagnostics. Using full size film directly to capture the lung X-Ray would have been prohibitively expensive for the screening campaigns.

Aren't gems supposed to be small?

it's quite unique for me, because it belonged to Eric Hosking, bird's photographer.

I believe its exactly the one in the picture.
Kilfitt 600mm f5.6. The construction is very simple, just two elements.
