Yesterday I found that the M 100mm f/2.8 mounted on a 31mm extension tube focuses at just the right distance to photograph a normal-sized lens and fill the frame.

My two rarest K series lenses.

This little fellah came in today. The tab is an issue... Can only shoot wide open now as the pin does not engage unless using a flanged adapter.

I have the same Fuji macro lens.
I find it elegant and very well made.
Mine came with the original extension tube like yours.
Got it for cheap cause it had damaged/bent filter attachment.
I bent the rim, filed the tab, and pronto... it was a perfectly usable lens.
The tab is very easy to remove. I used a simple hand file cause the material is soft enough.

This lens, like practically all other 50/55/60mm vintage macro lenses, still performs at top level even on high-res modern sensors.
Well worth putting it to actual use. I regret not having used it enough, but I have many other similar optics, and for ease of use I tend to prefer PK lenses over M42 ones.
Adapted on non-Pentax bodies it wouldn't make any difference. I have a new stabilised Panasonic m4/3 body that could be the perfect camera to use this macro at its best...

Cheers
Paolo

Hi Paolo - thanks for the encouraging words, appreciated.

I can't yet get to file the tab. I am trying to see if adding a rubber or metal thin washer between the lens mount and the M42-PK adapter gives me enough wiggle room (I know it might affect infinity, it is a compromise).

Filing will be last resource. I also have many, many other 50-60mm Macro lenses(Macro-Tak; K 50/4; A 50/2.8; Sigma 50/2.8; M.Zuiko 60/2.8 [Micro4/3]; Vivitar 55/2.8; Minolta AF 50/2.8; Zuiko 50/3.5 [OM Mount]), thus this lens is more of a novelty than a need.

Come to think of it, I may have too many 50-60mm macros. I couldn't choose over over another, maybe the Sigma and OM Mount Zuiko come in last place, but they're still lovely lenses that produce great. I like Macro lenses, yet seldom do Macro shots!
