HD Pentax-D FA* 1:1.4 85mm Lens Club

I'd really like a lens club for the modern D-FA* 85mm f1.4. I can't wait to see what people do with it.

With your indulgence, I will kick one with a shot from today, on K-1. Definitely still getting used to this new arrival!

Oh thank you Mike! I am a bit out of practice with the wide open stuff (if honest) but looking forward to getting back into it.

DOF may be razor thin with this lens wide open, but the sharpness of the in-focus areas is stunning. Hoping for some nicer conditions for shooting in the coming days.

Thanks - means a lot. I am slowly getting used to this monster. I didn't point it at much other than plants so far! Really can't wait to see what others come up with.

A couple more wide open shots from me:

Looks super sharp, I really love all your pictures. Did you take all those pictures with f1.4?

Thank you so much!

Yes, the ones I posted so far have all been taken at f1.4. They are all handheld so aren’t really intended as lens demos but I hope they show the potential.

My initial impression is that stopped down the sharpness is just incredible. Worth noting even the wide open sharpness is outstanding for in focus areas - but at f1.4 the DOF is of course very small.

Additionally the bokeh in any high contrast areas changes a little as you close down, for example a quick try yesterday showed that any cats eye/swirling in corners is almost completely controlled by approx f1.8 and certainly gone around f2.0.

I don’t propose to post aperture series or anything (I’m sure we’ll get reviews at some point) but I’ll try to show some other aperture shots soon!

Here's one of my neighbor's Husky.
Shot at f/2.5.
The focus missed ever so slightly, it appears that I am focused on the corner of the eye rather than the center of it.
Truth be to tell, I haven't checked the AF offset on the lens, so that might be the problem as well.
