Nice shots! I think I've been on that trail.

The early settlers in Australia were determined to cut down every single tree if they could. They left an occasional tree so the sheep or cattle had some shade.
In some cases, the settlers were actually
required to clear the land by the government as part of the grant process.
Sadly it means that we lost a lot of soil over the years, the rainfall has become even less stable, and a lot of wildlife became endangered or extinct because of habitat loss. Some animals like kangaroos increased in numbers because they enjoyed the grass as much as the sheep and cattle which were imported.
Now we are trying to put the forests back in order to help retain the soil and moisture. Well, except in some places where farmers are still determined to clear "unproductive" land.
