Pentax-D FA 21mm f/2.4 Limited Club

It seems we need a thread dedicated to the new Pentax-D FA 21 f/2.4 Limited lens. The lens has made a very strong first impression here on PF. Show us what it can do.

I have only been out with it a few times so far, but let me start the ball rolling with some assorted images.

I had a bit of fun with this lens in December with my Whisky Club advent calendar. At close focus and wide open its rendering is really nice.

So is the smooth bokeh produced by the whisky?

They really did deliver on the rendering with this lens, I'm not obsessed with oof rendering but this lens seems to stand out with the absence of any nervousness on this aspect

I think I posted this in a POTW thread, but another alcohol/close-focus/bokeh shot:

Your photo is lacking in seashell. I'm not sure pebbles will do

A few nickpicks about the usability of the DFA21 for nighttime photography: The prism housing night time illuminator LED on the K-1 can't quite illuminate the DOF scale on the DFA21 as it is positioned a bit too far away from the mount, so it is difficult to see if you are at the hyper-focal or not. Also Live view is critical for infinity focus, all my other FA limited lenses are calibrated for accurate focus: However, the DFA wanders a bit past it so night photographers keep this trait in mind!

With photography you work with the subject matter provided. Also placing a straight line (the horizon) that close to the edge of the image reveals distortion on the DFA21*. The Horizon showed a distinct bend to it so I suggest +5 distortion correction in LR as a good place to start.

Another image from the DFA21 on the K1.

* Among lenses in the superwide class I have seen far worse.

Wow lovely images!
I have just received my DFA 21 (like what I'm seeing so far), so once I get clear of work will snap some shots!
