Same here. Left alone without hearing about how "bad" kit lenses are, I'm not sure whether I would have bought the zooms that followed it.

Good point. but do note that many of the shots in this thread have the EXIF information still attached, and most browser support the ability to view EXIF information via, for instance, a right-click menu (sometimes via a plug-in/add-on). I'd definitely recommend looking into that for your browser of choice.
I give up--what plug in?

That would depend on your browser. With Firefox, just going to the add-ons menu and hitting "find add-ons" presents a number of options. I've currently got two installed that show EXIF: "Exif Viewer" and "FxIF". The former is far more more versatile, but until yesterday, didn't seem to work with the latest version of Firefox, so I used FxIF while waiting for Exif Viewer to be updated (which it finally was). Not sure how it work with any other browser; you'd have to consult its documentation of Google for an answer.

Thanks--I needed those names.

I'm usually on Safari at both home and office.

Well, after revisiting the magnificent photos in this thread this afternoon--and sticking my 18-55 DAL on the KX for the first time in 6 weeks--I think I learned a valuable lesson:

I always knew I was an a-hole, but just not how big an a-hole.

It was a pleasure working in full auto (including focus) because it allowed me to think about and work the exposure controls. Plus other crap.

First, I understand that the in-camera HDR on the KX is supposedly crap...that it shouldn't be handheld. But if the subject ain't moving, and there's a lot of sun, and if you go to ISO 3200 on the remarkable KX, you're going to get a lightning fast shutter speed, which is what happened for the first shot here as a handheld HDR. This shot was one of 3 out of 20 that came out acceptable, but it CAN be done!!!

It's at 18mm, ISO 3200, F8, 1/3000, Strong HDR setting, in bright light. (And in South Florida this time of year, we have that light until 7PM.)

The second shot is the other end of the scale at 55mm, ISO 6400, F11, 1/2000, not HDR, and I held it between my toes so it wouldn't blow in the wind.

Folks, this lens really rocks. And I am VERY happy to get these results after just 6 weeks with the camera. I'm no great talent, I SUCK and my entire life has been hell because of it, but this lens is capable of some remarkable things by following a few simple rules and principles.

Of course, you can't go too far wrong with a baby in a bath. (My grand-nephew). The shot is already cropped, but for those who have doubts about this lens, take a look at the 100% crop of this little guy's eye.
