@civiletti...love the monorail track photo. I am fond of architectural stuff and that image is first rate!

Thanks, Steve. Perhaps we can go on an architecture shooting expedition some day. I'm just south of Portland on the east side.

Best shot from Kit Lens 18-55 I or II

Let's see how best this lens can be used in good hands. Share your best image taken with kit lens
Mid July I bought the K-x 2 lens kit (with the 55-300mm) through Amazon. Would my 18-55mm be one of these, and if not how would it differ. On the lens it just says "PENTAX 18-55."

It sure would be. It could be the II, the L-version which has a plastic mount, or the WR version with environmental seals. They're all kit lenses.

I believe mine has a plastic mount. So that would be the II version, then, the L-version. I saw a graphic showing it saying II on the lens, but maybe that was in earlier versions, not the ones shipping with kits today, I suppose?

@rodfs

Nice church shot and an interesting building to boot. It reminds me of the chapel featured at the end of the last episode of "Lost".

That might be a good excuse for a meet-up. David (IS050) is south on the west side and likes to shoot downtown on Sunday mornings. If we can avoid getting arrested, I always thought it would be fun to shoot adjacent buildings from the upper levels of parking garages.

Thanks for the compliment steve. That chapel is located here in Davao City, Philippines. I am not a big fan of "Lost" but I'll be watching that last episode for sure.

Yes, perhaps rendezvous at a coffeshop to ensure we get good use of our in-body image stabilization.

The issue of arrest is no joke, unfortunately. Folks tend to nervous these days about guys with serious-looking cameras. I was asked to stop shooting in Powell's last month - a customer supposedly complained.

That is not true. There are always way more markings than that. See the sticky thread at the top of this forum for information on the different versions; it will be obvious from reading that and then looking at your lens which it is. but if you got it in the K-x kit, I can pretty much guarantee it's the "DA L" version (and it will say that right on the lens).
