Thanks, Rick :-)

I also like the first one better. It was a very casual walking by shot but came out well composed. That old lady with an empty frame adds to it even though i didnt think so when shooting since she hit me with it when passing by seconds before :-)

I think your 1st one shows how to properly compose an image at 18mm or at any setting. I've mentioned to friends that no matter what lens is used; ultra wide angle or long telephoto, something in that image must be perfectly horizontal or vertical to look "right", you did that very very well. A long time ago (film era), a photographer was looking at one of my photos, he said this is excellent, it has a foreground, a subject and a background, he said it's like your eye can "travel" through the image, you also did this. Just an all around super image...

So nice, that you've motivated me to use the Kit Lens today!!!

I agree with your comments. Old painters tend to be very inspirational regarding implementation of geometry and composition in photography.

As for the kit lens, i find it useable but rarely if not stopped at f8

I almost stopped using a tripod. This camera does a great job with low light!

Kx + Kit Lens 18-55

A few photos from the "Off the Grid" Art Studios. A few years ago these little or non used but grand spaces were rented out to starving artists. This area is where the old working mills were located, nice roomy loft style buildings. But as usual, once this gained some notoriety, developers swooped down and purchased all the buildings; planning condos and eateries. After years of being self sustaining, all of the Artists were given a whooping 60 days notice to vacate. I seriously doubt this new development will start anytime soon, more likely looking at years if ever...

Getting things ready for the move out...

Commander, the Studio cat will also have to move out...
