Thank you for your kind comment. it's been an unusually cold winter down here, so it's quite nice to see some sun and flowers.

A kitschy yard at 23mm F:8 ISO 200

At 100% crop. PP, we don't need no stinking PP. (Maybe a little wouldn't have hurt but you get the point)
some may say it needs some pp, but to some it doesn't. it's really more of a personal taste, so if you like it that way then you certainly don't need to pp it. nice capture, btw..

HDR is very nice or excellent at some extent or when the need for it arises. but sometimes overdoing it makes it less appealing.
I'm not sure if that mean you like or hate my image, but here's another one, where I tried to make it look painterly and unreal. I think it is more successful.

Wow, those are practically macros. Pretty good for the kit lens! Are they cropped much?

The 1st one is cropped some. The last 2 are not. The II version of this lens is greatly under appreciated. I can't believe I sold my copy. However, I plan to eventually get a WR copy.

Nope. not really. I'm just pointing voicing out my love-hate relationship with regards to HDR. there are times that I like the images and there are times that I see and feel that it is overdone or overused where creativity has been left exclusively at the hands of HDR effect. although it is a personal preference by the individual to solely rely on such effect for the images, I do however have my criticism on such use. most probably I just don't prefer on seeing a lot or too much candy art on simple images which can be easily reproduced. I would say I like to preserve and see the natural look of things, or atleast retain a certain degree of natural look.

There are two parts to HDR, the actual extension of dynamic range and the toning that produces whacked out colours. The first is entirely a reasonable tool of any creative photographer. The second is as well... so long as they want "that look". Like solarisation or duotoning.

But you will love to hear that I don't usually go in for this kind of thing.

And it is not that easy to get a good effect even if going for the candy-coloured effect.
