Fremont Sunday Market

The summer is over, the rains are setting new records, so here is the probable last shot of the Fremont Sunday Market for this year. K20d with DA 18-55, converted with Silver Efex.

Taken last night with my K-7 and DA 18-55 ED

20 second exposure, f7.1, 200 iso. A view to the north.
The lightning strikes then became my target but after 30 minutes, this was in fact the best I could do last night.

First Kit Post

I got some wet weather up north chasing foliage and decided to put the WR kit to work--here is one.

Summer has truly ended, not that it was that great this year. At least when Seattle is doing the Seattle thing, the K20/kit lens are up to a walk thru Volunteer Park.

Excellent! Nothing boring about that beauty!

Was raining and gloomy, so I took out my WR--not good conditions to show off the lens, but it did a good job. Here is the site of the re-building of the Lake Champlain (NY side) bridge. Workers told me it should be done in about a year. We all ride the ferry in the meantime.

Woke up this morning to a circular rainbow (the newspapers tell me it's actually called a 'sun halo') around the sun. Here's what it looked like from the street outside my house.

I posted these in the other photo forum, but might as well post them here too (well the ones shot with the kit lens anyway).

These are from the 18-55 DAL; nice little lens capable of some very nice results. Downsides (at least with my copy) are that it's prone to a lot of flare with the sun just inside or outside the edges of the frame, and colors and detail can be muddied in high contrast light without careful attention to technique.

And a 100% crop of the above image (hand held):
