Is this straight out of the camera or any color PP in Photoshop, Ash? The green looks really nice.

It's very close to as it came out of the box.
Some addition of contrast with curves and levels, and it was done.
ISO 1600 on the K20D in a dark environment. SR and WR both came in handy...

I like the way this lens does B&W conversions.

Another kit lens waterfall. Even at f/25 it isn't so bad.

I haven't shot a kit lens (aside from old manual focus kit lenses) in a long time. So for my Single in February I decided to shoot with the 18-55 WR which I've never shot with
first example below, shot in Tav mode on the walk home last night (iso is a little higher than i like softening things a bit too much). when I'm not time pressed i'm sure i'll be able to pull some interesting stuff out of this lens (it's nice to have all the camera features available for a change)

Camera Obscura

For my photography class, our first assignment was to recreate the mechanics of a camera obscura with a window and a room. I believe these photos might help demonstrate the low lighting abilities of the lens.

These were all taken with the Pentax K-r and the DA L 18-55 AL at ISO 100 and the widest aperture allowable given the focal length. The time of exposure ranged from 25-30 seconds. There was absolutely no PP done on any of the shots.

Lastly, I need to pick one of these pictures to send in for class. Any suggestions on what to pick?

I love this effect! What did you do - black out the windows with card and leave a hole for the aperture? I would submit the last one. The others are too cluttered, and the composition of the last one with the building mirroring the guitar is nice...

Thanks!

The process was pretty much exactly how you described. Here is a quick snapshot of what my window looks like. Just so everybody knows, I put a lot more effort into blacking out the window than I should have. I was too 'lazy' to completely move my desk out of the way, which would have allowed me to put some curtains over the window, and I instead slid some cardboard and went tape crazy.

It was one of those "I put too much effort into doing it one way because I was too lazy to do it the proper way" moments.

I am also more fond of the last picture and I will definitely be submitting that one.

This one was taken a while ago with the "ist DL2" and the first generation kit lens.
It is the view out of the window of my room at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo.
