Thanks. This is actually taken from Jose Rizal Bridge which (kind of) connects Beacon Hill to the Int'l District. If you take 12th Ave heading south you'll cross the bridge. It's a popular spot for photogs but be careful at night. It's not particularly dangerous but not a bad idea to bring a buddy if you're there at night with a nice tripod and equipment.

Funny you mentioned Kerry Park. I went there next after the Rizal Bridge and took the pic below. What a great spot to get that iconic image of downtown Seattle. Not sure what that streak is to the right side of this image, though. I zoomed in and can't make it out. Must be a plane.

K5 + FA31
exposure: 30s; f/16; ISO 200

(by the way, I have no idea what I'm doing with a tripod - I need to learn more about bulb mode)
Thanks for the information. I'll have to go and check it out sometime when I'm not busy with college classes...

Yeah, I've gone to Kerry park only 2 times now but still love it.

Nice pano too!

This is really nice. Where specifically was this taken? I've already gone to Kerry park and Bike Rack but always looking for new places like this one.
CTR01 - by the way, I forgot to ask you about Bike Rack? Where is this?

You still have streams in Texas?

Seriously. I like the capture. It looks like a great place to meditate for a bit.

Back when I took this shot (July), we had streams. I would imagine if I went back here now, I'd be lucky to find a puddle . Thanks for the comment!

Sorry for you bad weather. I was surprised to find Texas grapefruit in the store. A little smaller than normal but still tasty.

sorry for the late response, I'm not quite sure as some friends took me there but it is really close to kerry park.

So apparently it isn't bike rack but Bhy Kracke and if you google map that you should find directions too it.

Kit-Lens is No Slouch

With my DA35 Limited all but permanently affixed to my K-x, the kit lens doesn't see much time. That being said, I'm always pleasantly surprised by just how competent a performer it is when it does find its way onto the camera. Here are a few examples - some old, some new(er):

[Field of Dreams]

[Fields of Gold]

[Footloose & Fancy Free]

[First Frost]

[Deciduous Dusk]

[The Great Bubble Migration]

[Skid Row]

[1808]

[Wild & Free]

[Hold]

[Palm Up]

@sagitta: great shot and I agree the retro-look fits the image well

@ nate_b: that "field of dreams" shot is absolutely, positively stunning. it's really a great series and a testament to how well, in good hands, these kit lenses can be. BTW - I've never seen an aggregate bubble like that, ever... wow (and great shot of it)

Here's an oldie of my daughter with the kit 55-300. This lens gets the most use of my daugter (even more than my FA31 and DA40) because of the distance I can get from her.

1/2000; f/4; ISO 200

Cropped and de-saturated. 15 secs at f8, 400 ISO. I was actually metering for a film camera, hence the high ISO, but liked the shot anyway.
