Thank you.

Next Picture from that day is a bit trash, I like it nonetheless...

Picture links to blog, where you can compare it to a black-and-white version. I'm not quite sure which version I prefer...
Picture is a bit soft. Low light, long exposure, weak hands. I definitely have to get some artificial light... Or a faster lens. Or both. ;-)
I Like both but I would personally lean toward the colour version, the main things I don't like about this (all limitations of the lens) would be as you pointed out the softness in the hands as the shutter wasnt fast enough, and also the flare! I find it rather distracting, I know it might be a tough situation for any lens though. Everything else composition, tones etc are fantastic! It really carries a nice vibe to it!

A day at the races

This is one of my favorites. K-r with kit 55-300. It might be a little tight on the zoom, but the light was good.

The color version rocks...

I lost interest in the kit lens when I discovered primes, but rediscovered it again after using a number of other zooms, including the DA 16-45 and some manual land autofocus zooms from Sigma and Tamron. The kit lens is a worthy piece of equipment. I found the 16-45 to be slightly better in contrast and color, but only slightly. Sharpness was comparable, except for maybe at the corners at larger apertures. I now have the WR version, which I took out in the rain today just for fun. Here's one at 55mm, wide open. I'm also including a 100% crop because the wide-open sharpness is worth noting.
I've been on the fence about getting the 18-55 WR, but on weekends like we're having now, it's perfect! That's impressively sharp wide open. I've had place in my heart for the 18-55 Kit lens, often seems to be the right choice for parties and events where everything is tight and close. I, as well, have been toying around with zoom lenses and really liking it...

From my 18-55 K5 kit lens.

Nowhere near as nice as the others here but as a newbie in the photography world, they're the best pics I've ever taken in my life. I'm proud of them and I hope to get better one of these days.

Weirdest thing. This isn't the pic I uploaded but it keeps coming up. I was trying to upload the one with cropped sides. Oh well.

Nice range of shots!
I think we are all "works in progress" no matter what stage we may may find ourselves.

From a trip to the sea when it was so foggy everything got soaked just by the air and you couldn't see far at all. The 18-55 is my only WR so it got most of the gig.

Thanks! The kit impressed me in the fog.

I'm really amazed by the "macro" you guys get out the kit lens, I even struggle with a dedicated macro!

If Thursday if the New Friday, then a Close Focus and Cropping is the new "Macro"...

Well you know what I mean. If you can "catch it" just right, the images from the Kit Lens are pretty good and with the minimum focus of less than 10", you can get very close!

*If I could only have one lens I currently own, I would probably pick the Kit Lens!

My efforts,

A couple from a trip to the hills:

and a different perspective, I used a 52mm reverse ring for these 2, 18mm and wedged the aperture open with a piece of card.

This is a close up of the illustration on an AU$50 note.
