A nice clean rendering from the 18-55mm WR in Santiago de Chile
Agreed, and fine compositions too.
Did you dip your 18-55 in Good Stuff or something?, can you bottle it?

Nope.
The closely-guarded secret is to bring it along as your only lens.
That way, shooting 500+ images each trip, you're bound to get some keepers!

That is a tough one, but I can see the truth in it. I do that with the 18-135 with lesser results.

Truth! Even though I own far "better" lenses, some of my best shots are with the lowly 18-55. It's so small and effortless to bring along. Mine is an older V1, that came with a K100D.
Thanks for the comments, LensBeginner and Jorgario

If you get "lesser" results, it's only because you don't shoot enough!

Or maybe I'm just good enough at presenting ordinary snapshots, fitting them into galleries and passing them as "photographs"...

True on the first point, but in mitigation I'm here instead of out there shooting yeah that's lame, I know.

Also, methinks you present better than snapshots.

Hahaha you're too kind
Well, it's only days to the end of the month...then the tour de force is over.
I've shot very little, mostly because I have things to do, and I will be busy until the first half of July, the giveaway is just something I slot in the spare time... but boy do I miss a good stroll with a camera...

Erm, you do know there are THREE cameras to give away?, June, July and August. We will all be busted by the end of it.

I think I'm just doing this one... then who knows... maybe I'll just get involved and do the whole ten yards
...if by miraculous luck I happen to win this month, I'm gonna flood the forum of pictures as soon as I get the camera, that's for sure!

I've recently discovered that the 18-55 II makes a superb zoom macro lens when reversed. I wedge the aperture tab partially open with a piece of plastic tube cut from a cotton-swab-stick-thing. Changing the focal length changes the degree of magnification. At 18mm it has a horizontal field of view of about 6mm; this is almost 4:1. Theses are all taken hand held, with just a reverse macro adapter, no TC, no extension apart from that native to the lens. K-S2, built in flash with Pringles tin extender/diffuser.

I am constantly amazed by what this lens can do, when I do my bit right at the other end of the camera. Here it is, uncropped, resolving hairs on the legs of a red spider mite.

Wow that's a ground-breaking post for sure!
I actually have a 52mm reversing ring, but never thought to try it on a zoom lens, always used it on primes, becauseI reasoned that quality could't possibly be good...
I'm going to try that for sure
