The 1.4 was a premium kit lens vs 1.7 and I suspect with inflation today’s prices are actually possibly cheaper.

Thanks! Actually on that day I felt sorry for the poor old kit lens and decided to take it for a spin. It was hard to resist going full wide (18mm) like I did that day! I get better sharpness and less distortion if I set the wide limit at 22 or 24mm. But the kit lens always delivers good saturated colors.

thank you Michail ! .....been so long since i have used it that it was enjoyable to bust it out and take for a ride.....it's really nice to have them handy for these adventures of places i have not visited before and do not know what to expect condition wise and what focal length to use......get stuck in the prime rut way to easy!
