I look at all of these photos of the kit lenses and they're average. Low in contrast and sharpness.

The pictures would have been amazing if a great lens was used. Too bad and a missed opportunity.

Good thread to see why not to use the kit lens in my opinion.

Flame suit on but direct this to PM's

Amazing that you can judge sharpness at web resolution!

Though it was tempting to comment on his (ea77's) posted K-X shot with the FA 50/1.4. Something like "Lacks sharpness and contrast...would have been a great picture except for the photographer..."

Wonderful shot....have you thought of submitting it to the PPG? I dunno their criteria for approving images but that is a great shot....thanks for posting it!!

Not sure these are "my best shots" but I like them. Sadly I don't use this lens much anymore, maybe I should put it on and go out shooting. It's not a great lens, but it is a good lens, and a better "kit" lens than most. And it is a GREAT "bang for the buck" lens.

NaCl(the "lowly" kit lens ain't so "lowly" )H2O
Gotta love any shots of Chihuly's!! Plus those are really nice shots.

K100D with 18-55 WR:

I like to keep the old K100D for "product shots" when I try to show my actual Pentax stuff.
