Vivitar Series 1 90mm-180mm flat field zoom

The 1st picture was shot on slide film about 35 years ago, made into an 8"10 photo and recently scanned from the picture. The 2nd and 3rd are more recent photos taken last year when I got my new K-30 and pulled out the old lens to try on digital.

On my monitor, they seem somewhat soft.

I'm definitely in love with KIron Vivitar 70-210mm. It feels like a real thing I edit pictures minimally and crop very small.
Here is the whole 2 days tests album.

Very nice! It certainly produces a 3-D effect, doesn't it. I love the Vivitar lenses I own. Not a bad one in the bunch, and I own over a dozen. My latest, a 28-85mm (#77xxxxxx) is a killer lens!

Honestly with this lens I don't care much about 3D effect. I can crop picture about 1:1 and it still a picture! It's like the sharpness is endless with this lens. My hand does not hurt any more since I figured out how to deal with weight.
What 28-85mm do you have? Macro or variable aperture? They are both pretty cheap not to buy

I'm proud owner of Vivitar Series 1 90mm f2.5 macro VMC ("bokina") since yesterday. One of the first shots below.
What shall I say? I love this lens. One of the best when it comes to true color rendering...

Vivitar 28mm f/2.5 to K Mount

Here are some shots from a Vivitar 28mm2.5 that I converted over from a Minolta Mount by marrying the guts of the Vivitar to a Pentax 50mm rear end.

Here are a few samples from the Vivitar Series 1 800mm solid Catadioptric lens made by Perkins Elmer. With good light it is a very good performer.

The pix of the VS1 600/8 and 800/11 "Solid Cats" remind me when I had both of 'em. For the copies that I had, the 800/11 always seemed to be a bit more of a compromise, with a bit less sharpness and contrast.

I no longer have both of the above, but I do still have a VS1 600/8 and a nearly identical "Perkin-Elmer"-labeled 600/8.

I was disappointed to find that the "Solid Cats" would not fit on my K20D (due to the front protrusion of the flash housing), but was later on quite relieved to find that they fit just fine on my K-3.

Here's my VS1 600/8 -

And here's the Perkin-Elmer 600/8 -

Unusual lenses all...

I've done the conversion of Vivitar S1 70-210 (Komine) from KONICA mount to Pentax K.
So what's involved in converting an S1 to another mount?
Can *any* S1 serve as a donor for any other S1?
Or does it have to be the exact same model to pull it off?
